Large Clypeus ploti Echinoid from England
Stock Number  XIEC77

Name:   Clypeus ploti
Age:  Jurassic
Formation:  Bajocian (Upper Inferior Oolite)
Location:  Cyrencester, England
Size:  Echinoid is 3.8 inches across
Price:  $69.00

This is a very interesting specimen of Clypeus ploti from the Jurassic of England. This type of echinoid is quite famous in geologic history. This genus of echinoid was one of the famous ''pound stones'', one of the first paleontological items studied by William ''Strata'' Smith in the early days. Smith is well-known for being the Father of Stratigraphy. This sea urchin has been polished on top for a better display of the intricate plate structure. The wide ambulacra are easily seen, and the interambulacral plates are well defined. This is a very attractive specimen of a geologically important sea urchin from the Upper Inferior Oolite. (White streaks are in the photo, not on the specimen.)

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
