Name:
Hoploscaphites nicolletti Age: Cretaceous Formation: Fox Hills Formation Location: South Dakota Size: Ammonite is 2.45 inches across Price:SOLD
This is a very nice US ammonite. It is a fine Hoploscaphites nicolletti from the Late Cretaceous of South Dakota. This type of ammonite has distinct ribbing and a rounded keel. This 3-dimensional ammonite is well preserved, and the natural coloration is easily seen - the iridescent coloration of the fossil is present and contrasts beautifully with the greyish-brown matrix. The ammonite is wonderfully presented on the small block of concretionary matrix. The other side of the ammonite also displays beautifully. This is a very affordable example of this classic ammonite from the Fox Hills Formation.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
