EXTINCTIONS CHOICE - Rare Ammonite Association
Stock Number  XIAUS127
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Hoploscaphites cheyennensis, Sphenodiscus lenticularis
Age:  Cretaceous
Formation:  Fox Hills Formation
Location:  South Dakota
Size:  Hoploscaphites is 3.5 inches across!
Price:  $295.00

This is a RARE ammonite fossil. It is a large Hoploscaphites cheyennensis with a smaller Sphenodiscus lenticularis lying on top of it! This unusual fossil is from the Cretaceous of South Dakota. The Hoploscaphites has numerous ribs and many distinct large nodes. The keel is quite flat, with a row of prominent nodes on both sides. This ammonite is very 3-dimensionally preserved and exhibits fine detail. The cephalopod is extremely inflated and 3-D, and the reddish-brown iridescent nacre is beautifully displayed. The Sphenodiscus is flat and round and has an extremely sharp keel and wonderful suture pattern preserved. Both ammonites are wonderfully showcased in the natural block of concretionary matrix. This is a very uncommon Hoploscaphites cheyennensis/Sphenodiscus lenticularis association from the Fox Hills Formation.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
