Hoploscaphites cheyennensis Age: Cretaceous Formation: Fox Hills Formation Location: South Dakota Size: Ammonite is 3.3 inches across Price:SOLD
This is a beautiful ammonite fossil. It is a very fine specimen of Hoploscaphites cheyennensis from the Cretaceous of South Dakota. This type of ammonite has faint ribbing and a somewhat squared keel. There is one row of prominent nodes on the shoulders and near the keel of the ammonite. These features are very clearly defined on this specimen. But the most striking feature of this ammonite is its natural color. The iridescent shell of this 3-D ammonite is very easily seen. It is almost opalescent in nature - very shiny. This is a very inflated iridescent ammonite from the Black Hills.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
