This is a very interesting fossil from the Silurian of Indiana. It is a fine gastropod, Platyostoma sp., with many Cornulites preserved. The large gastropod is very detailed and shows the coiling pattern of the organism beautifully. The fossil is very 3-dimensional, exhibits fine detail, and has great color and contrast. The snail has many detailed Cornulites attached to the surface. This is a very cool example of a large gastropod and strange Cornulites from the Waldron Shale.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
