Here is a very unusual arthropod. This is either a complete Branchiocaris, a phyllocarid, or a Waptia. Phyllocarids are among the lesser known crustaceans. They are distinguished by a rather large carapace, hinged at the top, which sheltered the anterior part of the body. This specimen displays the carapace and body very nicely. The fossil contrasts wonderfully with the matrix plate. This is a fine example of this strange Burgess Shale like arthropod from the Middle Cambrian trilobite beds of Utah.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
