Here is a very strange echinoid from Africa. It is a fabulous Claviaster libycus from Morocco. This inflated sea urchin has great form and exhibits very fine detail, especially under magnification. This type of echinoid has very normal underside (see photos, but the top side is extremely inflated abd comes to a point! The sea urchin is fully free of matrix, and can be viewed from all angles. This is a very collectible specimen of this distinct urchin from the Cretaceous of Morocco.
