This is a beautiful ammonite fossil. It is a fabulous specimen of Discoscaphites conradi from the Cretaceous of South Dakota. This type of ammonite has faint ribbing and a somewhat rounded keel. There are several rows of prominent nodes on the shoulders and near the keel of the ammonite. These features are very clearly defined on this specimen. But the coolest feature of this ammonite is its amazing natural color. The iridescent ammolite of this ammonite is quite striking (hard to see in photo). The specimen is wonderfully showcased on a natural block of dense, concretionary matrix. This is a very colorful iridescent US ammonite.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
