Very Detailed Shrimp Concretion from Mazon Creek
Stock Number  XISHM02

Name:   Belotelson magister
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Carbondale Formation (Francis Creek Shale)
Location:  Braidwood, Illinois
Size:  Concretion is 3.4 inches long
Price:  SOLD

Here is a great fossil crustacean from a classic location. This is Belotelson magister from the Pennsylvanian of Illinois. This famous site (Pit 11) has been closed to collecting for a number of years. The shrimp is well preserved in a siderite concretion. Both halves of the concretion are present so both part and counterpart are intact! The shrimp exhibits fine detail - the head, body, and tail of the shrimp are wonderfully displayed. Even the eyes, antennae, and legs are quite evident. The fossil has very good color and contrast and is almost perfectly centered in the oval concretion. This is a fabulous example of a fossil shrimp from Mazon Creek.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
