This is one of the rarest types of echinoderms found in Morocco. It is a plate of THREE Undescribed Cothurnocystis carpoids from the Basal Upper Fezouata Formation of Zagora, Morocco. Carpoids were extremely primitive echinoderms somewhat related to cystoids. These specimens are well displayed, with the plate structures well preserved - the plates are almost never this well preserved. The striking natural coloration contrasts beautifully with the greenish-grey plate of shale. This is easily one of the best multiple examples of this strange carpoid we have ever seen.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
