This is a very collectible fossil. It is a large Chesapecten nefrens shell from the famous Calvert Area of Maryland. This type of bivalve is a scallop, as seen by the shape of the shell. This specimen has many barnacle scars and TWO large, complete barnacle preserved on it - it is extremely rare to have these fragile barnacle still intact. The detail is very nice, and the natural color is quite striking. This is an unusual fossil symbiosis from the Chesapeake Bay region.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
