Formation: Ammonite Beds
Location: Tulear, Madagascar
Size: Ammonite is 2.6 inches across
This is a beautiful specimen of Perisphinctes sp. from the Jurassic of Madagascar. This very inflated ammonite is very nice for this type and has been removed from the surrounding matrix so that it can be viewed from all sides. This cephalopod has a very rounded keel and coarse, bifurcating ribbing. The inner whorls of the ammonite are extremely well displayed. The large fossil has a natural off-white coloration, which is quite striking. This is a very cool specimen of Perisphinctes from Madagascar.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
