Detailed Astrodapsis antiseli - Fossil Sand Dollar
Stock Number  XIECA709

Name:   Astrodapsis antiseli
Age:  Miocene
Formation:  Santa Margarita Sandstone
Location:  San Luis Obispo, California
Size:  Sand dollar is almost 2 inches across
Price:  $29.00

This is a cool fossil sea urchin. It is a distinct Astrodapsis antiseli from the Miocene of California. The echinoid is somewhat flattened like a sand dollar and exhibits nice form. The plate structure and the five point "star" are both clearly defined and easily seen. The whitish color of the urchin contrasts wonderfully with the blond-colored matrix. The fossil displays beautifully on the natural block of sandstone. This is a very pretty specimen of this type of fossil sand dollar from the West Coast.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
