Mammut americanum Tooth (American Mastadon)
Formation: Suwannee River Alluvial Deposits
Location: Suwannee River, Florida
Size: Tooth is over 4 inches long
This is a very nice Mastadon tooth. It is from the extinct American Mastadon, Mammut americanum. This type of animal crossed the land bridge from North America to Russia and made it as far as Eastern Europe. It lived beyond the end of the Ice Age and was hunted by early Man. This was a very interesting Ice Age mammal.
This distinct specimen has many large cusps intact. The large enamel crown has great, natural grey-black coloration and excellent detail preserved. The tooth simply displays beautifully. This is a very cool tooth from this massive, extinct mammal from North America.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
