Pair of Plecia Insects from the Fish Site
Stock Number  F921943

Name:   Plecia pealei (March Flies)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Kemmerer, Wyoming
Size:  Plate is 2.1" X 3.1"
Price:  $19.00

This is an unusual grouping of insects. It is a pair of Plecia pealei (March Flies) from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This fossil was found in the ''Fish Layers'', not the more common ''Leaf Layers''. These Bibionid Flies have great detail preserved - even the wings and legs are easily seen! The bugs are nicely centered on the rectangular matrix plate that also contains another unidentified insect (nymph?). This is a great example of these fossil march Flies from the ''Fish Site'' in Wyoming.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
