Here is a fabulous plate of fossils from the Eocene of Colorado. There are DOZENS of insects on this slab. There are many different insects fossilized on the rock. Under magnification, the fossils exhibit terrific detail. There are a few different types of large insects preserved, which is quite unusual! The insects contrast nicely with the lighter-colored matrix. The fossils are well showcased on the natural plate of shale. This is an extremely fine slab with many different fossil insects from the Eocene age.
