This is a very interesting fossil. This is a rare pair of sponges from the Lower Cambrian of Nevada. Fossil sponges similar to this have been found in the famous Burgess Shale! This sponge specimen was found in a single layer and nowhere else in the formation, as far as we know. These distinct fossils are well preserved and exhibit very fine detail. The conical shape of the organisms is beautifully displayed, the textured pattern is quite evident, and the tiny holdfasts are even present! The fossils have great natural color and contrast and are well showcased on the substantial plate of shale that also contains many Olenellus trilobite parts! This is a very rare and collectible double example of this delicate Lower Cambrian animal.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
