Here is an extremely interesting fossil. This is the lower jaw of an Ice Age Bison from Nebraska. This jaw is very large, obviously from an adult animal. There are still four back teeth firmly embedded in the jaw. The front two teeth show considerable wear, while the back two teeth display very little wear. The enamel of the teeth is in fine condition and the roots of the teeth are easily seen. The white teeth contrast nicely with the brown bone. This is a wonderful example of a lower jawbone with teeth from this large Pleistocene mammal.
