Here is a great specimen of a Plesiosaur tooth from the Cretaceous of Russia. Plesiosaurs were large, vicious marine reptiles. They had extremely long necks and fairly lengthy tails. They swam by means of legs and feet that had developed into oarlike paddles. This large tooth is extremely robust and exhibits excellent detail. The dark brown, striated enamel of the tooth is beautifully preserved and the very tip of the tooth is near perfect. A long section of the root is still intact. This is an excellent example of a tooth from this ferocious reptile that inhabited the Cretaceous seas.
