Here is a gorgeous ammonite. This is Cleoniceras cleon from the Cretaceous of Madagascar. This ammonite has been cut in half and both halves have been highly polished. The coiling pattern of the mollusk is easily seen and the individual chambers are clearly defined. Each chamber is filled with yellow calcite - several of the chambers are somewhat hollow and lined with sparkling calcite crystals. The exquisite colors of the ammonite make for an outstanding display. This is an absolutely beautiful ammonite from the exotic location of Madagascar.
