Here is a nice multiple plate of blastoids. These are Pentremites rusticus from the Pennsylvanian of Oklahoma. There are six blastoids on the slab. This species is quite unusual in that the plates of the thecae are highly ornamented. The blastoids are totally inflated and exhibit great detail. The wide ambulacra are clearly defined and the spiracles are easily seen. The ornamentation of the plates is beautifully displayed (hard to see in picture). These primitive echinoderms have good color and contrast and are nicely presented on the natural plate of matrix that also contains several bryozoans. This is a very fine specimen of these highly ornamented blastoids from the Pennsylvanian.
