Here is an outstanding fossil brittlestar. This is a new species of Ophiopetra from the Jurassic of Germany. This specimen has been meticulously prepared to reveal the fine detail of the fossil. The large central disc is wonderfully displayed and the long, sinuous arms are present - even the tube feet of the organism are easily seen. Sometimes, portions of the arms are painted in - not so with this specimen. The thin arms are beautifully intact - the individual plates of the arms are clearly defined. The fossil has great color and contrast and is extremely well centered on the squared plate of lithographic limestone. This is a very collectable specimen of a fossil brittlestar.
