Here is a very attractive plate of brachiopods. There are three fine examples of Paraspirifer bownockeri on this slab. This specimen is from the famous Silica Shale of Ohio. Both valves of each brachiopod are intact and tightly articulated. The brachiopods have been replaced by iron pyrite or ''fool's gold'' and have beautiful, sparkling, golden coloration. The extremely 3-dimensional fossils contrast wonderfully with the gray matrix. This is a very displayable plate of brachiopods from the Devonian.
