This is a very unusual plate of echinoderms from the Cretaceous of Texas. This slab contains at least ten specimens of fossil brittlestars. Brittlestars are extremely uncommon in the fossil record. A multiple plate of fossil brittlestars is very unusual. Brittlestars have a large central disk with five long, thin, sinuous arms. These specimens retain the central disk and many of the very thin arms are well preserved. The brittlestars have great, dark gray color and contrast nicely with the light grayish-tan matrix. The fossils are well presented on the natural plate of matrix. This is a very rare find of Cretaceous brittlestars.
