This is a very nice Plesiosaur tooth from the Cretaceous of Morocco. Plesiosaurs were large, vicious marine reptiles. They had extremely long necks and fairly lengthy tails. They swam by means of legs and feet that had developed into oarlike paddles. This dagger-shaped tooth is very 3-dimensional and has beautiful corrugated enamel. A lengthy portion of the root is also present. The fossil has superb color and contrasts well with the sand-colored matrix. It is nicely centered on the oval block of sandstone - NATURAL, NOT COMPOSITED on the plate. This is a fine example of a tooth from this giant reptile that lived in the Creataceous sea.
