This is a beautiful fossilized mammoth tusk. It is a large tusk from the Woolly Mammoth, Mammuthus primigenius. This specimen is from the same area that was featured in the Discovery Channel special, "Raising the Mammoth". This tusk is from a sub-adult, meaning the mammoth was not quite fully grown when it died. The tusk is complete down to the very tip. The dull outer covering of the tusk, or "bark", has been polished off to expose the striking mottled-blond coloration of the fossil ivory. The tusk is solid, not hollow, meaning the value of the fossil ivory in the tusk is tremendous. And as an added bonus, this specimen comes with a sample of real Mammoth hair (''Wool'') at no extra charge. This is a very collectible Mammoth tusk that simply displays beautifully (display stand is also included for free).
