Here is a great Ice Age fossil. It is a complete paw from the extinct Russian Cave Bear, Ursus uralensis. Cave Bears are the largest members of the bear family and the chief animal hunted by Neanderthal man. Cave Bear material is becoming more difficult to obtain as most of the caves have been discovered and collected out. This is a large right rear paw with all the digits intact - even the claws are present. The bones have been internally wired together for strength and stability. This is a very displayable specimen from this extinct Pleistocene Bear. What a conversation piece!
