This is a very interesting specimen from the Silica Shale of Ohio. Near the bottom of the plate is an unusual Platyceras gastropod. A brachiopod, Mediospirifer audaculus, is present in the upper right corner of the plate. To the left of the brachiopod is a crinoid stem. All of these fossils are quite 3-dimensional and beautifully replaced by iron pyrite or ''fool's gold''. The golden coloration of the fossils is quite striking and contrasts wonderfully with the gray matrix. This is a unique assemblage of different fossils from the Devonian sea.
