This is a very attractive plate with two Platystrophia ponderosa from Kentucky. These HUGE Ordovician brachiopods have both valves intact and tightly articulated. The fossil ''shells'' are extremely inflated and exhibit very good detail. The coarse plications of the shells are easily seen, and the fine growth lines are evident. The fossils have nice color and contrast and are well positioned on the natural plate of shale. This is a very pleasing specimen of two Ordovician brachiopods from Kentucky.
