This is a gorgeous ammonite. It is a Cleoniceras cleon from the Cretaceous of Madagascar. This ammonite has been cut in half and both halves have been highly polished. The coiling pattern of the mollusk is easily seen and the individual chambers are clearly defined. Most of the chambers are hollow and lined with sparkling calcite crystals. The large size of the specimen combined with the exquisite colors of the ammonite make for a beautiful display. This is an absolutely stunning ammonite from the exotic location of Madagascar.
