This is a large "spirifer" brachiopod. It is a Platyrachella from Iowa. This specimen is large and is complete to the tips of the "wings". The brach was prepared ventrally, so you actually see the inside of the specimen. The brach is replaced with beautiful brown calcite. The brach is nicely centered on the squared matrix plate. It is a collectible example of this displayable Devonian brachiopod.
