This is a very aesthetic fossil gastropod from the Pierre Shale of South Dakota. Gastropods are not commonly found in the Pierre Shale. The fossil is 3-dimensional and retains the "shell" material. The fossil is nicely perched on the natural piece of shale matrix. There are also a few small bivalves associated with the gastropod. This is a very displayable fossil gastropod from the Cretaceous.
