Paleozoic echinoids are highly collectable. This is a very nice specimen of Archaeocidaris sp. from the Pennsylvanian of Texas. The test of the echinoid exhibits good plate structure and retains many of the long, barbed spines. The fossil has good color and great contrast. It is well positioned on the rounded plate of shale. This is a very displayable example of a Paleozoic echinoid.
