Here is an interesting plate of blastoids from the Devonian of Missouri. These are an undescribed species of Nucleocrinus from the Mineola Formation. The blastoids are very 3-dimensional. The elongated pentagonal blastoids are comprised of large, extremely thin plates. The ambulacra are very long and narrow. There are six specimens of this blastoid on the plate. They are all natural - no compositing or placement of additional specimens has taken place. The fossils have good color and contrast. They are well positioned on the rectangular plate of limestone. The matrix block is loaded with other fossils. This is a very unique specimen of these primitive echinoderms from the Devonian.
