This is a very nice specimen of Archimedes sp. from the Warsaw Formation of Illinois. This corkscrew bryozoan is unique to the Mississippian of North America. The fossil has excellent off-white color and contrasts nicely with the gray-green matrix. The Archimedes is well centered on the squared matrix plate. This is a very pretty specimen of this unusual bryozoan.
