Here is an outstanding fossil lobster! This is Astacus sp. from the Jurassic of China. This splendid crustacean exhibits incredible detail. The head, carapace, fan-shaped tail, claws, and legs are all easily seen. Even the segmented antennae are wonderfully preserved. Under magnification, each individual segment of the antennae is clearly defined! The fossil has gorgeous, natural coloration and contrasts wonderfully with the light-colored matrix. It is beautifully posed and extremely well positioned on the plate of shale. This is a fantastic specimen of this unusual lobster from China.
