This is a very ''showy'' specimen of fossil corals from the famous Silica Shale of Ohio. There are two examples of Heliophyllum sp. on this plate. Both solitary corals are extremely 3-dimensional and have great form. The ''horn'' corals have been wonderfully preserved by iron pyrite or ''fool's gold''. The golden coloration of the fossils contrasts beautifully with the gray matrix. This is a striking example of fossil corals from the Devonian.
