This is an unusual Devonian fossil. It is a Rhenocystis lapendulata from Germany. The quarry where this specimen was found used to mine roofing slate for decades, but is now shut down. This cystoid is complete with both arms, the body, and the tail all preserved. The plate structure is easily seen under magnification. The cystoid is beautifully centered on the squared plate of roofing slate. This is a fine example of this primitive Devonian echinoderm.
