Here is a nice vertebrate fossil. This is a jaw bone of Percrocuta sp., a hyena, from the Miocene of China. There are still two large teeth firmly embedded in the jaw. The teeth have excellent enamel and beautiful coloration. The teeth exhibit hardly any wear - the cusps of the teeth are clearly defined. The light brown teeth contrast wonderfully with the whitish-colored bone. This is a great specimen of a jaw bone with teeth from this Miocene animal.
