Large Seed Fern Concretion With Many Fronds

Size:  Nodule is 3.4 inches across.

Here is a very large siderite concretion from the Pennsylvanian of Missouri. The concretion contains a nice branch of multiple fronds of an unidentified seed fern. Seed ferns reproduce by seeds. True ferns reproduce by spores. Both halves of the concretion are present. The fossils have good color and contrast. The seed ferns exhibit fine detail. The tips of the fronds are nicely displayed. This is a choice specimen from the Braidwood Formation of Missouri.
