Here is a very impressive fossil bivalve. This is Chesapecten nefrens from the famous Calvert Area of Maryland. This huge scallop has both halves of the shell intact and tightly articulated. Both "ears" of this fossil clam are unusually complete. The coarse radial ornamentation is wonderfully exhibited. This is a very displayable fossil bivalve from the Miocene.
