This is a rare and unusual fossil. It is a Cordulagomphus tuberculatus dragonfly from the Santana Formation of Brazil. This striking insect lived during the Cretaceous Period, at the same time as the Dinosaurs! This dragonfly has beautiful natural coloration and is VERY detailed. You can even see the small legs and the two appendages on the tip of the tail. But the best feature of this fossil is the natural ''lacewing'' pattern that is still preserved in the wings. It is rare in the fossil record to find a fossil dragonfly with wings this detailed. The dragonfly is almost perfectly centered on the large matrix plate. This is a collectible and displayable fossil of a very recognizable type of insect.
