Here is a large solitary or ''horn'' coral from the famous Mississippian layers near Crawfordsville, Indiana. This formation is well known for the wonderful crinoids that are found there. Once in a while, one of these corals is unearthed. This coral is very 3-dimensionally preserved and exhibits very good detail. It has nice color and contrast and is well presented on the natural plate of siltstone. This is a fine specimen of a coral from the Edwardsville Formation.
