Here is a beautiful fossil echinoid. This is Clypeaster trevisani from the Miocene of Italy. This echinoid is large - it measures over four and a half inches across and almost two inches high! This somewhat conical echinoid is totally free of matrix and is very ''clean and crisp'' on all sides. The sea urchin is very 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail. The petaloid ambulacra are beautifully defined and the mouth and anal opening are easily seen. This is an extremely displayable echinoid from the Miocene of Europe.
