This is a wonderful plate of brachiopods. These are Lepidocyclus capax from the Ordovician of Indiana. There are six brachiopods on this slab. All of the brachiopods have both valves intact and are tightly articulated. The brachiopods exhibit very fine detail - the coarse plications are well displayed and the fine growth lines are quite evident. The fossils have great color and contrast and have been aesthetically mounted on the large plate of shale that also contains several branching bryozoans and numerous trilobite pieces. This is a very pleasing plate of Ordovician brachiopods from Indiana.
