This is an extremely interesting specimen. It is a multiple plate of Camptostroma roddyi from the Kinzers Formation of Pennsylvania. Camptostroma is one of the earliest known types of echinoderms. Found in the Lower Cambrian, this Medusa-like animal had a very distinct plate structure. Examples of Camptostroma are extremely rare, and a multiple specimen is even more scarce. These highly uncommon fossils have good form and, under magnification, some of the plate structure is defined. This specimen has both part and counterpart present. The fossils have good color and contrast and are nicely positioned on the plates of shale. This is a great multiple example of this very unusual echinoderm from the early part of the fossil record.
