This is a very aesthetic plate of brachiopods. There are three examples of Platystrophia ponderosa on this slab. These HUGE Ordovician brachiopods have both valves intact and tightly articulated. The fossil ''lampshells'' are extremely inflated and exhibit excellent detail. The coarse plications of the shells are easily seen, and the fine growth lines are quite evident. The fossils have nice color and contrast and are well positioned on the natural plate of shale that has the pygidia of Isotelus and Flexicalymene trilobites on the reverse side. This is a very pleasing specimen of three Ordovician brachiopods from Kentucky.
