This is a very nice example of a juvenile Eurypterus remipes from the Silurian of New York. This type of fossil has been officially designated as the ''State Fossil of New York''. This specimen exhibits great detail. The eyes are easily seen, and the segmented body of the beast is clearly defined. Both paddles are quite evident, and even the long telson is unusually intact. The fossil has good color and contrast and is well centered on the large, unbroken plate of dolomitic limestone. This is a fine specimen of this unusual arthropod from the Silurian.
