This is a very displayable ammonite specimen from the Jurassic of Russia. Included on the block are two near-perfect ammonites and a large incomplete specimen. These ammonites are Deshayesites deshayesi. This type of ammonite is characterized by its strong ribbing pattern and a rounded keel. Both of these ammonites retain their white, mother-of-pearl shell, with the bright iridescence fully displayed (hard to see in the photo). The inner whorls are intact, which is unusual. The fossils are still encased in the natural piece of the concretion in which they were found. This is a very fine specimen of an iridescent ammonite plate from Russia.
