This is an unusual fossil ammonite from Russia. It is a fabulous Deshayesites imitator, not to be confused with the more common Deshayesites deshayesi. This specimen is large - almost 4 inches across. The ammonite is very 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail. The inner whorls of the ammonite are very easily seen. The ribs of the ammonite also display well. And the ammonite is almost perfectly centered in the oval matrix concretion. This is a beautiful display specimen of this hard-to-find Russian ammonite.
